Hadley Park Lock (No.4)

Hadley Park Lock is probably the most photographed of all the Shrewsbury Canal Locks, as it survived in reasonable condition for many years and had a decent farm lane over the bridge at its tail. The lower gate superstructure was never modified, so remains as a Type A.
This lock was worked on for several years by the Wrekin College Canal Restoration Group, an enthusiastic band of pupils who worked not only here but also on the Montgomery Canal between 1971 and 1978.
The intention had been to restore this lock into working order, but these plans failed to reached fruition, until recent work by the local authority.
